Topic: Depression General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: To inform my target audience about the general causes and the management of depression Thesis: It is important to understand depression, and what it really is by meaningfully high-pointing the causes, impacts, and management of the people living with depression in order to facilitate the treatment and healing process. I. Introduction A. Attention Getter; many people in the united states of America and other parts of the world have reported signs of depression by being sad for different reasons. Depression is a normal occurrence that follows the death of a loved one, challenges of life struggles, problems in social life and the feeling of low self-worth. B. Reason to†¦show more content†¦1. Depression would be hard to cure, but with the involvement of the society and the professional health caregivers, it is manageable. a. According to Nemeroff (2007), depression is a psychological illness that affects one’s feelings, thoughts and actions. b. It leads to the feelings of low self-worth, and in most instances, people living with depression end up thinking about suicide, which is the most dangerous aspect of it. c. Aarsland, Pà ¥hlhagen, Ballard, Ehrt and Svenningsson (2012) stated that people if the thought of suicide is not managed at the right time, the patient might end up killing himself or herself. 2. Some of the things that lead to depression include loss of a job, death of a friend or relative, and problem in social relationships among others. a. According to Katon (2011), depression has led to many deaths in the united states of America and other parts of the world b. This implies that the thoughts about the treatment and management of people living with depression must be informed in order to support these patients.
