Significance of Literacy Essay Good afternoon my fellow students, and to our beloved teacher, Mrs. Leny Ibon. For you, what is literacy? Is it really important in oneââ¬â¢s life? How can it help everyone? Well these questions will be answer by this speech. So please, lend me you ears in just a few minutes. For me, literacy is all about possessing the skills of reading and writing. Reading and writing is the right of everyone. By studying, people upgrade their mind about literacy with the help of the teachers. Reading and writing are the basic skills discussed and developed by the teachers because these are the major part in studentsââ¬â¢ life. In reading, the instructor or teachers teaches first the alphabet. They are training the children to read perfectly. In writing, the teacher train the students to write beautifully and legibly. Lady Macbeth The Real Power Behind the Throne :: essays papers
Lady Macbeth The Real Power Behind the Throne Power is a theme used by Shakespeare throughout the play Macbeth. The plot involves Macbeth trying to gain more power. Lady Macbeth tries to convince Macbeth to kill Duncan so that he will become king in his place. Macbeth also is persuaded to kill anyone who threatens his chances of being king, including Banquo. Power is used by certain characters in the play to influence others. One such character is Lady Macbeth. In the beginning of the play, she is a strong-willed character. She takes on the role of a dominant male. She has great influence over her husband, who appears to be weaker than she is. It is her influence that convinces Macbeth to murder Duncan. Lady Macbeth is the dominant partner at the beginning of the play, she persuades Macbeth to achieve his goal, and she plans the murder of Duncan. Lady Macbeth takes the role of the dominant partner in the beginning of the play, by acting as the real power behind the throne. For example, it is easily recognized that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are opposite in many ways (Scott 236). He is weak, indecisive, and takes on the traditional female role of the marriage; she is strong, decisive, and takes on the traditional male role. One place in the play where Macbethââ¬â¢s character is shown is Act I, Scene 5, Lines 15-17. She says, ââ¬Å"Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be / What thou art promisââ¬â¢d : yet do I fear thy nature / Is too full oââ¬â¢ the milk of human kindness.â⬠This is just after Lady Macbeth receives the letter from Macbeth. It is also important to notice that when Macbethââ¬â¢s first thoughts of killing Duncan appear, he is scared. After he commits the murder, Macbeth says, ââ¬Å"To know my deed, ââ¬Ëtwere best not know myself â⬠( 2. 2. 72 ). Knowing that he has committed such a vil e act makes him uncomfortable. It will be difficult to act innocent and deal with his guilt. Lady Macbeth thinks that being gentle is a weakness. When she says Macbeth is ââ¬Å"too full oââ¬â¢ the milk of human kindness,â⬠she means that he is too gentle and weak to murder Duncan (Scott 37). For example, in Act II, Scene 2, Lines 57-74, Macbeth has trouble dealing with the guilt of committing such a crime. He immediately wishes Duncan were alive again.

Center of Pressure Essay
Introduction: The point in a body at which the resultant pressure acts when the body is immersed in a fluid. The apparatus for center of pressure. Objective: The object of this experiment was to calculate the hydrostatic force a fluid exerts on a submerged plane surface and then compare the experimental hydrostatic force to the theoretical hydrostatic force. Theory: The apparatus defining the physical dimensions, this nomenclature will be used throughout this theory. Whilst the theory for the partly submerged and fully submerged plane is the same, it will be clearer to consider the two cases separately. The apparatus can make the calculation center of pressure. A fluid at rest is said to be a static condition. the fluid particle experiences a constant pressure on all sides acting inward towards a single point at its center. The horizontal x and y components of the pressure are equal and opposite and have a net sum of zero. It can be said that the pressure does not change in the horizontal direction, The apparatus for center of pressure. Apparatus: * The hydraulics bench * The hydrostatic pressure apparatus * A set of weights * A jug * Calipers or ruler, for measuring the dimensions of the quadrant For siphoning * A measuring cylinder, or other container of water of similar height to the hydrostatic pressure tank. * A length of small bore flexible tubing. Method 1. Place the center of pressure apparatus on a level surface. This is important for obtaining an accurate force balance scenario. 2.

Skinner ( 1904-1990 ) - 1746 Words
B.F. Skinner (1904-1990) was an American psychologist who was a leading proponent of behaviorism, which had significant influences on philosophy. He was an advocate of his own school of thought called radical behaviorism, and conducted experimental analysis of behavior. In About Behaviorism, B.F. Skinner expands on methodological behaviorismââ¬â¢s central tenet and its weaknesses. Skinner illustrated that in methodological behaviorism, the only admissible and relevant evidence in scientific psychology is behavioral data. To methodological behaviorists, introspection is not a form of evidence, since it is a private and personal way of knowing. There can be no public agreement on introspection, and thus it cannot be accepted as a scientificâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The first premise of radical behaviorism is that psychology should concern itself with the observable behavior of organism, not the unobservable mental events. The second premise is that the study of behavior should be a natural science, much like biology, chemistry and physics, relying on hypotheses, controlled variables and evidence. Thus he concludes that radical behaviorism repairs the damages done by mentalism to scientific psychology because a scientific psychological theory will consist of laws directly relating controlled stimuli to behaviors. Radical behaviorism does not acknowledge mental events at all, in which behavior is restricted to an input-output relationship, thus allowing psychology to be a form of evidence driven science. Through the framework of radical behaviorism, Skinner discusses perception and imagination, which he calls ââ¬Å"seeing in the absence of the thing seen.â⬠Skinner claims that the act of imagining does not constitute a mental event, and thus does not threaten the premise of behaviorism. Skinner insists that imagery is not a thing, but rather the act of imagining and visualizing is a behavior. And the act of imagining is a response, which may be conditioned to occur in the absence of its normal stimuli. Though it may seem private, he gives examples of he public aspects of imagining. He gives the example of leading
